WHAT IS A "TOG"?

TOG is a warmth rating. It measures how well a fabric holds heat, and it's the same scale used on duvets and comforters for adults. The number has nothing to do with thickness, quality, or size — it's simply how well that specific product and fabric makeup holds heat. Interior quilting only

Every quilted seam is finished on the inside, with nothing exposed against baby. No loose threads to work free and wrap around a toe.

Bamboo inside and out

Bamboo outer, bamboo lining. The only thing touching baby's skin is bamboo, on both sides of the fill.

Padded zipper garage

Rest assured that baby's chin is protected from zipper edges through the night with our oversized zipper cover.

Side snaps for arms in or out

Snaps down both sides open the swaddle from arms in to arms out, or one of each, without changing bags (0-3M sizes only)

Why we build them this way

The quilted liner goes on the inside, like a duvet inside a cover.

The idea for these started with a loose thread. A quilted seam on the inside of a sleep bag worked free, and the thread ended up wrapped around my first born son's toe. Nothing came of it, but the possibility was enough.

So every Pip + Phee sleep bag is built with the quilting finished on the interior. No exposed stitching, nothing that can unravel into the space where baby's feet are. It costs more to make and it isn't something you'd notice in a photo, which is exactly why it's worth saying out loud.

Which swaddle for a new baby?

Both are sleep bag swaddles for 0–3M, and both open from arms in to arms out. The main difference is how much give they have.

Arms in, arms out, or one of each

The snaps down each side let you close the swaddle over both arms, leave both arms free, or run one in and one out. Start wherever baby settles best and change it whenever you like.

Arms in — for a newborn who startles awake
Arms out — for a baby who wants hands near their face
One in, one out — for the in-between stage

Once baby shows any sign of rolling, both arms come out and stay out. This one isn't a preference — switch to arms out and keep using the bag that way.

Common questions

Which size should I order?

Sleep bags are roomy on purpose, so go by the length ranges above rather than sizing up. A bag that's too big lets baby slip down inside it.

What does baby wear under it?

One light layer. A footed or footless sleeper in a cool room, a short-sleeve bodysuit in a warm one. Check the back of the neck for warmth, not hands or feet.

How do I wash it?

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, tumble dry low and unzipped (it will take longer to dry zipped up). A mesh wash bag keeps the zipper from catching on everything else & protects the fabric from rubbing against other items.

Can I use it once baby rolls?

Yes, with both arms out. The bag itself keeps working right through to 3 years; it's only the arms-in swaddle position that stops at the first sign of rolling.

What's the difference between a sleep bag and a sleep sack?

Nothing. Same product, different word depending where you shop. Ours are sleep bags with a two-way zip and a quilted liner enclosed between two layers of bamboo, like a duvet inside a built in duvet cover.
